This afternoon we spoke with Janet Christy who has spent the majority of her professional
career in marketing, sales and public relations positions. She has also worked on several economic
development and technology initiatives in the Southeast.

In 2003 Janet formed Leverage
& Development, LLC, a consulting firm focused on helping Small and
Woman/Minority Owned businesses and government/education entities. The firm has several service offerings that
assist businesses and governments in evaluating their assets and then
developing plans to improve them and/or use them to accomplish specific goals.

Janet
currently works with Women and Minority owned businesses to develop plans that
will help them maximize their certification as a Woman or Minority Owned
Business. She prepares a customized
manual for her clients that includes: Market Assessment, Key Prospects,
Prospecting Strategy, and a Step-by-Step Marketing Plan.

Janet
also conducts seminars on marketing and certification for Small and
Woman/Minority Owned Businesses. She conducts the seminars for Chamber of
Commerce memberships, private businesses, education institutions and
municipal/county governments. These
workshops provide attendees with practical instruction, resources and
experience-based advice.

In
2006 Career Press (Franklin NJ) published Janet's book Capitalizing On
Being Woman Owned. Janet has
also written articles for several magazines and blogs including "Home Business
Magazine.â She has made more than 30
radio appearances to discuss the advantages and opportunities for woman owned
businesses. Janet was selected as part
of the âBrain Trustâ for the Small Business Advocate and has been appointed to the Board of Business Credit Success. Janet was named as âCommunicator of the Yearâ
by the Greenville SC Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications.
She continues to speak and conduct workshops related to Women and Minority
Owned Businesses.

âOne
of my main goals is to help women understand that they have choices in
life. Helping them be successful in
their business choices is one of the ways I can do this,â says Janet. That is why she often speaks to women"s
groups and mentors other women.

Since early 2000, Janet has aided
several East Coast municipalities and counties in determining strategies and
developing plans for improving the entrepreneurial culture and services as part
of their Economic Development efforts.
She has helped them obtain grants, develop small business incubators and
establish entrepreneurial development programs.

Janet
has worked on both sides of the procurement process. Her experience includes both preparing RFPs
(Request for Proposal) and RFIs (Request for Information) and responding to
them. She currently works as a
consultant for Small and Woman/Minority Owned Businesses to aid them in
marketing to government and education entities.
She also assists government and education entities in the development of
RFPs and the evaluation of responses.
Janetâs firm, Leverage & Development, LLC offers a workshop to help
businesses understand the culture behind government purchasing, the workshop is
titled âI Want A Government Contract - I Think.â For more information about Janet, her bok or her firm please go to her website www.leverageanddevelopment.com

her hometown newspaper wrote a story about a blue ribbon she won for

and several other Atlanta-based radio shows.

This afternoon we spoke to Dean Trevelino and Genna Keller Principals with Trevelino/Keller Communications Group.

After 15 years with some of the best public relations firms
in the world, including two stints with partner Genna Keller, Dean Trevelino
set out to establish a great boutique firm in 2003, one recognized for
strategic thinking and creative programming.

Dean says "As a boutique agency, if we can be forward-thinking, often
we can get from point A to point B faster than most. That's the value
proposition of a boutique: unencumbered decision-making and execution with
enough internal resources to be exceedingly effective.â?

Genna's experience runs deep on company launches, corporate
positioning and fast-to-market campaigns. Having traveled the country to shows
and conferences that were setting the agenda for the future of business, Genna
has a keen sense of understanding the new, new thing.

âWe are focused on delivering something that's difficult to
experience in an agency environment -- senior folks serving in daily account
roles against public relations budgets that don't consume the marketing spend.
We want to be seen as a tremendous value add to the client.â? added Genna.

During the show we spoke about Dean and Genna's new venture The Start-Up Council. The Start-Up Council was created in 2006 out of a belief
that the next generation of emerging companies is on the horizon. To foster
that community, the Council meets each quarter, in a roundtable setting with
entrepreneurs to hear their business case for the next great start-up. The
group offers advice and insight on business development, funding, marketing,
public relations, legal, accounting, outsourcing and branding. There is no financial or contractual commitment to participate. To apply for an upcoming Roundtable please visit www.startupcouncil.com. and several other Atlanta-based radio shows.

This morning we spoke to
Yoshi Simms, owner of The Publicity Formula. Yoshi started The Publicity Formula
in March of 2002, when she was searching for a PR firm for another company she
owned. Finally, realizing that no one understood all the factors in getting this
company media coverage like she did, she decided to do her own publicity and The
Publicity Formula was born.<u1:p></u1:p>

Yoshi said,
"We love the challenge of working tirelessly to craft the perfect plan for our
clients. Every company has a formula that makes it work and this is where our
team really takes center stage. Knowing the formula that makes your company tick
and conveying that to the media and the public is our greatest
strength."

During the show, we learned about her work with Rich Dad
Advisor, Blair Singer, to promote
his upcoming appearance at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center on January 17,
2008. She also shared her interest in creating an organization for young girls
that puts the girl back in the girl called "Grace of Dunwoody."

Yoshi
shared all kinds of tips for small business people who want to try to do PR on
their own. For more information about Yoshi and all that she has going on,
